Position Overview:

In order for the Central Oklahoma Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy to achieve its ambitious mission, a proactive, relationship-oriented, organized fundraising and communications professional is required. The Director of Development and Communications will be part of a small team responsible for driving the Campaign and the Collaboration’s work forward. The Development and Communications Director creates, implements, and manages a strategic approach to fundraising and communications which includes annual fund development, personal solicitations, corporate donations, grant solicitation, special events, in-kind resources, publications, social media and other PR efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage a comprehensive donor development and fund raising program to ensure the organization meets its annual and long-term fundraising goals.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with corporations, foundations and individuals to meet the funding goals, utilizing the CEO and Board of Directors when appropriate.

  • Provide support, guidance, and leadership to Board of Directors’ Development Committee.

  • Coordinate corporate and foundation grant program, research opportunities, write grants &

    handle follow-up and reporting.

  • Develop and coordinate donor stewardship activities.

  • Manage any special events including establishing a budget, event timeline and coordinating all details of the events.

  • Handle donor database operations enter donations, produce acknowledgment letters, etc. in a timely manner.

  • Oversee tracking of designated gift funds and in-kind contributions to ensure ethical use of contributions.

  • Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved. Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities.

  • Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization, gaining support from co- workers and volunteers.

  • Lead and participate in site visits, presentations and speaking engagements for donors, prospects, civic and corporate groups, and members of the general public.

  • Oversee the content development, design, printing and distribution of organization marketing and communication materials.

  • Manage content and tactics for organization’s digital communications including website and social media.

  • Collaborate with and support CEO in building relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization. Support stewardship activities of the CEO.

  • Represent the Campaign and the Collaboration to the central Oklahoma community; network with community groups and maintain current knowledge of community resources.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •   Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business or a related field.

  •   Minimum 3 years, 5 years preferred, of successful non-profit fundraising experience.

  •   Knowledge of fundraising strategies and implementation experience.

  •   Knowledge of federal and state legislation and regulations affecting charities.

  •   Knowledge of technology within a fundraising environment (i.e. database, social media, reporting,

    MailChimp, cell phone, texting, etc.).

    Proficiency in the use of technology:

    Fund raising software, databases, etc.
    Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
    Use of web pages, on-line surveys, email solicitations, Mail Chimp. Use of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc..

    Must be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
    Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's license, have reliable transportation and the ability to drive. Must be able to pass a background check.
    Must be able to carry 25 pounds and carry a display board to presentations.
