Executive Director-Philanthropy

Leads major gift fundraising efforts. 

Includes management responsibility for Corporate Relations Manager, Senior Annual Giving Manager, Physician Liaison, Senior Development Officer(s).

Serves as a fundraising source of information and works with the regional philanthropy team.

Meets regularly with Regional Vice President – Mercy Health Foundation to provide updates on plans of action and progress.

Identifies and cultivates local donors who will support Mercy initiatives for targeted programs, technology, and capital needs.

Submits a plan of action for each philanthropic element and project.

Submits periodic progress and evaluation reports to the Regional Vice President – Mercy Health Foundation.

Qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major and lead gift prospects to align prospect interests with the strategic campaign objectives of Mercy and the local community needs.

Manages a portfolio of 50 to 100 prospects with potential for major gifts.

Schedules in person meetings with all prospects assigned in his/her portfolio.

Coordinates with philanthropic leaders, physicians and Foundation Board members to identify major gift prospects for solicitations.

Maintains records of campaign-related cultivation strategies, evaluations, solicitations, contact reports, and results of all contacts with prospects.

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum of BS or BA degree.Experience developing strategic plansFive years of experience in healthcare philanthropy. Management experience in meeting goals.Proven leadership skills.

Excellent writing and organization skills.

Highly effective at personal communication with strong emphasis on interpersonal relationship skills.Demonstrated creativity and "can do" attitude.Ability to work well with a wide variety of people. Proficiency in developing and adhering to schedules and timelines.  Personal integrity and confidence in exhibiting leadership skills when needed.Proficient in Microsoft applications and at least knowledgeable if not proficient in Raiser's Edge.
